[Sorry for any formatting glitches today. Blogger has a mind of its own sometimes.]

We're excited to present another round of our reader DIY projects. These are so inspiring; I swore I'd take a little DIY hiatus after finishing my campaign chest, but now I'm starting to think about my next project!

Nina and her "Saddest Chair in the World"

MoS reader Nina emailed us with her MCM chair makeover. She wrote,

So, I present you with The Saddest Chair in the World. Can you believe I paid $10 for this? But I loved the shape of the back and was looking for a small chair to bring out when I needed extra seating in my MCM-style living room, so I snapped it up. Despite the wonky angle of the seat, it felt solid, and I figured a little bit of $ spent on paint, foam and fabric would be worth it.

Nina's before- yep, we'd be sad too if we were upholstered in that fabric!

But the chair is a perfect example of classic Danish modern design- it also looks a lot like these gorgeous Scovby Danish Mid Century Dining Chairs

And we love a great Danish modern room, like this one for Skona Hem via Apartment Therapy

Nina continued,

I can’t remember the exact costs involved with this chair’s transformation, but I bought new foam and batting for the seat, about ¾ of a yard of fabric ($14.99 per yard at my fav local discount fabric store – I was excited to find something in the right colors that had that nubby texture popular in MCM furniture), and a small can of sample paint from Lowe’s, which would have been about $3. I can’t remember the name of the paint color, but it is somewhere between a very pale celery green and a cream color.

Nina's chair looks quite a bit happier here! From what we can see in the background it looks right at home in Nina's stylish living room! Loving those drapes...

Allison's Stenciled Powder Room

MoS reader Allison emailed us a "before" of her powder room, which was looking a bit on the spare side in terms of wall color.

We love a fabulous stencil pattern, which can be a great (and less expensive) alternative to wallpaper. Some fabulous stencils we've come across include this Eric Roth room via CocoCozy- love the Moroccan inspiration.

And this refined chinoiserie stencil by Helen Morris via StencilSearch.com. Hard to believe that's not wallpaper!

Allison broke out the stencil in her powder room and the results are fabulous- I am jonesing to try this myself! What a gorgeous stencil. We love how the colors are muted and aren't hugely contrasting, which would have been too busy for a small space. Amazing job, Allison! Will you leave us a comment letting us know where you got your stencil?

Shannon's Cane Chair Makeover

Shannon, author of the blog Bold and Beautiful, emailed us with another fantastic chair makeover. Here's the before - the chair is showing great "bones" but the upholstery looks a bit tired.

Shannon combined two of our favorite things- a timeless brocade in a punchy color.

Apartment Therapy

Along with the classic look of a cane back tub chair. These so so wonderful in any type of home and the sky is the limit in transforming them. Mos Charlotte did her own makeover on one of these a while back- post is here!

And here is Shannon's after (photographed so gorgeously in natural sunlight!). What a great yellow/green color in that brocade fabric - it stands out yet could also blend in with other colors in a room. Thank you, Shannon!

Stay tuned for more reader DIY tomorrow and Friday!
