A wonderful 4th of July weekend at my inlaws' beach house near Charleston, SC, has re-emphasized my love for beachy design styles. Above all, I think "light and airy" is how I would describe my ideal beachy bedroom. Here are some of my inspirations:
I love the aqua and green color combo of this bedroom. In fact, I used this combination in my bedroom at home! The geometric printed fabrics keep this room young and modern, while the upholstered headboard and fluffy duvet adds a level of traditional comfort.
Turquoise and yellow is a somewhat unexpected combination of colors, but we love it! It's so much fun, and the simple white bedding keeps the look from being too busy.

SunsetFor a traditional seaside cottage, we love this children's room. Red and light blue is such a lovely color choice. The nautical theme is classic beach style!
DominoWe love the soothing color scheme of this bedroom. The marble fireplace is just gorgeous (and probably a bit impractical for a beach house bedroom), and of course we love the imperial trellis drapes!
DominoWe loved this entire house from House Beautiful last summer. We are seeing how much light blue goes with everything! How fun is it with orange here? And we love the quilt- it is just beautiful! This picture is proof that you can use different shades of the same color in a room and have it really work- from the walls to the lamp to the quilt.
House BeautifulThis beachy bedroom mixes polka dots, stripes, and plaid. Paired with simple white bedding and plain carpet, it is so fun!
We wish we could see more of this room! We love the striped roman shades and the bookshelves. And while green can be a tough color to "wear" on bedroom walls, this shade looks really pretty!
We love the soothing, buttery yellow walls in this room! The fun flamingo prints add the perfect pop of color!
Coastal LivingWho knew that black and white houndstooth could work in a beachy bedroom? We love the built-in look of these bunks.
And some more fabulous bunk beds (that's something we don't say too often). This bedroom/ playroom is so practical for any beachy kiddos. We love the grasscloth-covered light fixture and the beige and orange color scheme. I've always thought this color combo was too Thanksgiving-y in the past, but it works in this room.
The painted wood floors in this bedroom make it so light and airy. We love the white bedding with green accents (although we would probably choose a bench that looks a bit more comfortable).
Coastal LivingThis room is perfection. From the grasscloth walls to the bamboo blinds and rods to the leafy printed fabrics, it just works. We love the green piping on the headboard, as well as the faux bois lamp.
This simple red, white, and blue bedroom is perfect for a beachy cottage look. The ticking striped linens and beadboard walls are so fresh.
Country LivingLight blue with orangey coral! We are obsessed with the curtain fabric (one MoS girl has an ages-old Michael Kors pencil skirt in the same print!).
House BeautifulThis turquoise and white room is stunning. Everything about it is just perfect.

We love the upholstered toile screen behind the tufted headboard and the boxpleats on the bedskirt. The seagrass/ jute rug makes the whole room feel less "precious" and more comfortable.
We typically don't love wrought-iron beds, but this one works! We love the dried seafans above the bed and the starfish pillows.
Such a crisp clean look in this white and apple-green room! The wainscotting adds a nice dimension, and we love the periwinkle accents!
