In our previous posts, we've made no secret of the fact that we loooove rocks. Not just the kind that go on your finger (though those are awfully nice too!), but also specimens such as geodes, agate slices, and rock crystal that are both large and striking. This is definitely a holdover from the days when one of the MoS girls had an extensive rock collection from the Nature Company and the other MoS girl dreamed about owning a rock tumbler!
Decorating with rocks and minerals must be done carefully so as to avoid looking "new age." You want your favorite specimen look like a luxurious, glamorous touch in the room, not like you are relying on it for healing powers whilst wearing long tie dye skirts and a wolf amulet!
Luckily we've come across some fabulous examples of rock-chic done right and are excited to share them with you today!

With its brown/gray color scheme, brass base, and rectangular orange shade, even an agate lamp can cast a mid century modern light. Agate Lamp via Homebug.
Chad Eisner Room. The geode lamp is a subtle touch that adds an organic touch to the room.

Barrie Benson's Buffet, Domino. What an amazing lamp that softens up the otherwise angular lines of the furniture and paintings.

Doug Meyer room from Metropolitan Home. We swoon for the large amethyst geode! Doesn't it look perfect there, adding height and texture?
Mary Anne Smiley room via All The Best. A large geode is the focal point of the room- see it in the back? We love it over a fireplace.

For an unconventional (but amazing) use of geodes, check out this awesome geode countertop via flicker from the Austin Parade of Homes. Purportedly it cost $650/square foot, but I am going by hearsay!
