On the weekend we took a trip out to Somerset West and explored some of the wine farms out there. The best part about this is that it's only about a 30 minute drive from Cape Town and that they are all so close to each other. We visited Vergelegen, Morgenster and Lourensford, such a fun day!
First on the agenda was Vergelegen which is a beautiful, historic estate dating back to 1685. The estate is absolutely huge and perfectly maintained with incredible gardens and a magical Camphor Forest. You can wander around the estate through the herb garden, white garden or along the stream, there is so much to do and enjoy. Of course being a wine farm, one should definitely do the wine tasting and then there are two restaurants to choose from or you can order a picnic hamper. It's definitely a worthwhile visit, make sure you have enough time though to explore properly.
