2009 Emmy Fashion Round-up

I absolutely love watching awards shows (actually, the pre-awards red carpet shows) and seeing everyone dressed to the nines. But I have to admit I was a little disappointed with all the "safe" fashion choices at the Emmys last night. Yes, it was extremely hot, and yes, we are in a recession so maybe it's not the best time to break out the haute couture. Some people looked great, but generally speaking, I was a bit underwhelmed.

Here are some of our favorites:

Kate Walsh looked really pretty in this drapey gray gown from J. Mendel. Gray is a tough color to wear (and I think she would have looked better in another color), but still, she looked pretty. I love that her clutch was only $30!!

This gold lace gown looks really pretty on Sandra Oh. She really bugs me for some reason, but she looked great last night! I'm not sure about the clutch though- it seems too dark. I would have preferred a pop of color, like turquoise or even a grape color.

Love love Kristin Chenoweth. She is cute as a button, and we absolutely loved her short, sequinned dress!

Jenna Fischer looked elegant and glamorous. Maybe a tad boring, but the sweetheart neckline and mermaid shape really show off her tiny waist!

January Jones is just so gorgeous. Her gown was interesting and unique, and I think her waist must be about 20 inches. Love her!

Jamie Lynn Sigler looked beautiful in gold! Love the exaggerated cowl neck and train. And she and Turtle are really cute together.

Heidi Klum is one hot mama! I'm not sure that I would have the guts to wear something so form-fitting, but she absolutely rocked this dress!

Debra Messing looked very pretty in this one-shoulder red gown. Super flattering, and we love the cuff with it.

Drew Barrymore was one of our favorite looks of the night. She looked absolutely gorgeous. We think this gown had just enough color to not wash her out.

And for our least favorites...

Olivia Wilde is wearing one hot dress! It is gorgeous from the front. BUT, that big zipper going straight down the back really kills it for us- reminds us too much of an ice skating costume. If the zipper was gone, this would be on our "favorites" list.

Blake Lively's dress was definitely an eyecatcher. Red and very low cut, but still in good taste for the event. However, her hair was awful! A ponytail that has been braided My Little Pony style?

We love the navy color of Christina Applegate's dress, but the neckline just is not flattering. She is teensy tiny, but it makes her shoulders look so broad.

Our least favorite look of the night was probably Patricia Arquette's dress. One shoulder can be stunning, but one puffy cap sleeve? Love the red lipstick though.

Which were your favorites and least favorites?
