X Marks the Spot

X Benches are timeless, classic, and work well with so many different styles.  We know that lots of bloggers have posted on them, and while we try to be a little different, sometimes some overlap is inevitable.  But MoS Washington's latest find at the Georgia Avenue Thrift Shop has us, like many other bloggers, thinking about X-benches.

$10.  Yep, you heard right.  $10 for this gorgeous cream velvet X-bench that is in such fabulous condition that it doesn't need to be reupholstered!  (We've heard that reupholstering an X bench can be quite pricey).

The top comes off, so she was able to wash it, and now it's as good as new!  This bench is the real deal, the one Jonathan Adler dreams of when he makes his own $600 X benches!

To inspire her, I thought I'd share some of my favorite x-bench photos.

Turquoise and yellow, gray and camel, bergere and faux bois- what a combo, but it really works!

Perfect pair of X-benches in place of a coffee table!

Extra seating in this open and airy living room!

Absolutely in love with this pair upholstered in quadrille fabric!

A slight variation, the curved legs add femininity to this bedroom.

House Beautiful

Jonathan Adler's benches look gorgeous under this mirrored console table.  The bamboo mirror is to die for, as is the zebra rug.

These dainty-legged X-benches work so well in the Nate Berkus-designed living room of Katie Lee Joel.

Tufted X-benches, centered at the foot of the bed!

Meg Braff

Flanking a pedastal, in place of a sofa table behind this family room couch.

Amanda Nisbet

Black wrought-iron legs, just right to pull up to a coffee table or for kicking up your feet.

Perfect pair of fireplace seats in this elegant living room.

Every bed needs a bench at the foot, for holding pillows and clothes (if you are like me and don't always hang everything up immediately!).

If you'd like one (or a pair) for yourself and aren't as lucky as MoS Washington, Jonathan Adler makes a fantastic version.

As does Ballard, for a fraction of the price, and in a number of fabulous fabrics!

Ballard Designs X Bench, $259 in this particular fabric

Do you have an X bench in your home?
