Louis Vuitton and the 150th Anniversary of the Red Cross

Louis Vuitton celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Red Cross by commisioning six designers and artists to create six distinctive luggage pieces. They are illustrious photographer Annie Leibovitz, British artist Damien Hirst, head of LV SO, Patrick-Louis Vuitton, Master Chef, Ferran Adria ; Oscar-winning musician Gustavo Santaolalla and of course the Marc Jacobs . Every designer has created a special and practical suitcase according to personal occupation and interest. Annie designed a camera case, backpack and shoulder bag; Damien, a tall black trunk with trays to hold surgical instruments (tools for his artwork); Patrick-Louis a trunk to hold paints and brushes; Ferran a roller bag, Gustavo an instrument case and sweet darling Marc, a trunk made for his two pet dogs complete with pet bowls and a place to store his clothes and a photo of himself so that they wouldn't go LVoesick. The pieces will be auctioned by Sotheby's in London on November 17.
Special thanks to SL for sharing this info and for the photos.

Tivoli GM in the new Filipino Movie "In My Life"

Set in New York City, this latest film from the Governor of Batangas, Miss Vilma Santos, is a tale of a mother visiting her son (Luis Manzano, who is actually her biological offspring) in the Big Apple who apparently is gay and has a partner (John Lloyd Cruz). What she discovers in NYC is not the Louis Vuitton store in Fifth Avenue, but how life and love teaches us how to find ourselves. Very typical Pinoy Movie. I can't wait to see it!

New York LVoe

Fashion's Night Out is an event to encourage as many people in NYC to come out and shop and help the retail industry! Special thanks to a New Yorker for the tip. So go out and spread the LVoe!!! (DD)

Louis Vuitton Mobile Game

Louis Vuitton Japan has created an original game for mobile web SNS and game portal site Mobage Town by DeNA. The free game, called Precious Cargo, will have a limited run from June 25th to July 7th. The simple puzzle game features a backdrop of the brand’s iconic monogram. Players try to line up the boxes with matching designs to clear the boxes, score points, and reveal images of Louis Vuitton products. The debut of the game is timed to follow up the opening of the Louis Vuitton “/underground/” concept shop that opened last month in Ikebukuro’s Seibu department store. For actual article, click here. Gosh, have I but known of this...I guess it's too late now but if there are any LVoe Readers who can send it my way, that would be great!

Louis Vuitton: "The Lure of the Sea" Exhibit

Louis Vuitton ushers the summer season by presenting “The Lure of the Sea,” an underwater photo exhibition at Saipan DFS store.

Japanese artists Takahiro Noguchi and Ota Nobuyuki, focuses on the sea's rich bounty in a series of stunning underwater photographs taken in the alluring crystalline clear waters of the Marianas Islands.
Both Noguchi and Ota are diving instructors and professional underwater photographers. The photographs will be exhibited from Aug. 6, 2009 to Sept. 22, 2009.

Louis Vuitton in Chéri?!

I am a sucker for period movies so when I saw this in our local theatre listings, I knew that I had to go see it. Set in Paris at the turn of the century, it didn't surprise me that when Léa de Lonval (Michelle Pfiffer) sped off to beautiful Biarritz, her automobile had trunks piled one on top of the other. I don't think they used Louis Vuitton trunks but there were scenes showing the lining and an actual label of the interior which unfortunately I couldn't read. With that said, I really enjoyed myself and highly recommend this film. Check it out here. LVoe it!!!

Space Invaders of the Louis Vuitton Kind: Malle Mars Trunk

"One small step for man, one giant leap for leather goods", says the press kit. July 20 marks the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11’s first lunar landing, and to commemorate, Louis Vuitton has created an out of this world “Malle Mars” Trunk designed for a trip to guess where?...Mars! The aerodynamic trunk, which LVooks like a large egg worthy of Spock, opens up to unveil compartments for our necessities in outer space...drawers galore and shelves for our dishes plus a fold-out chair so we could sit back and relax as we take in the views of Mother Earth from the stars.

The trunk, as well as other NASA photographs, space toys, sculptures and astronomy photos, will be on view this Monday, when Louis Vuitton is celebrating the lunar landing’s anniversary with a party at the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History. Vuitton North America president and chief executive officer Daniel Lalonde is playing host with Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and Sally Ride — the history-making astronauts who star in the company’s new core values campaign. For the occasion, Vuitton is donating an undisclosed sum to Al Gore’s Climate Project, and sales of the travel collection at the Fifth Avenue flagship from July 13 to 20 will benefit the organization. I think this is when they would be releasing the Speedy Miroir 35 that I was talking about several days ago.

Hmmm...I wonder if Marc could design a spacesuit just pour moi.
Special thanks to my Source! LVoe it!!!

EEEEEEEEEKKKK, Price Increase on Wednesday, June 24!!! (USA confirmed)

...but there are rumours that a decrease will also occur, e.g. (Speedy 30 is $690 from $700; Totally PM is $840 from $870
& the Totally MM is $970 from $1000). As for the rest of the world, better call your SAs.

Louis Vuitton de LEGO?!

Here's a cute interpretation of the Damier Ebene as made by Chiu Keung, a Hong Kong based LEGO builder who belonged to the group that received accolades for their LEGO Beijing Sports Village. Take note, this is not commissioned by LV but I LVoe it all the same.
The 'master builder' himself with the LEGO Sports Village.

Speaking of Hats...the Murakami Flower Hatman

I have been going gah~gah over the latest addition to Murakami's Superflat, so when I saw this listed on e-bay, I almost fell outta my seat. This very rare and limited edition Flower Hatman Charm is so adorable!!! Made out of white gold studded with sapphires and emeralds and finished off with enamel, this little guy was supposedly limited to only 5 made in the world. What I like about it also, is the Multicolore jewelry box that it comes in. The perfect marriage for such an exceptional piece. The only down side is, that the seller is asking $15K for it. Shhheeeesshhh...but I guess if you LVoe Murakami and his work, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. For the actual listing, click here.

Louis Vuitton Iconic Speedy Exhibit at Selfridges, London

Louis Vuitton just LVoes Selfridges. As part of the store's 100th Anniversary, LV is currently holding an exhibit of its Iconic Speedy. The Speedy Concept Store will feature an insight into the history of the Speedy and the Louis Vuitton brand. Specialist techniques such as hot stamping and Mon Monogram will also be available to customers, who can personalise their purchases. Special Limited Editions Speedy Miroir 35 (previously released only as a 30) are also available at the store. I wish I could go to the exhibit which runs only until June 25, since it will have a cross section of past Speedys released from the Louis Vuitton archives. For those of you who could go, the exhibit is located on the ground floor of the Oxford Street store. Photo source: Selfridges and Chameleon Visual Ltd.

Chloë Sevigny for Louis Vuitton?!

Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2004-2005 Collection Ad. Bag featured is the Velour Gracie with Alligator Trim.
I just read Meenal Mistry's blog at style.com about Chloë being open to the idea of future collaborations with a high end fashion house. "I’d like to do something with a high-end company," said Sevigny. “You know, the way that Sofia Coppola did with Louis Vuitton. I thought it was very cool. There were no labels on anything. I like that. I prefer it.” What do you think, guys? After Sofia and Kanye's collab, is it wise for LV to also do one with Chloë Sevigny?

I dunno if I should laugh or cry...

Remember my wish for a 'Manila' Neverfull? Click here. Well, Louis Vuitton did not grant it. But somewhere, somehow, someone did. Sigh...I hate fakers! Photo found by http://oskarsobsession.blogspot.com/
