Louis Vuitton and the 150th Anniversary of the Red Cross

Louis Vuitton celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Red Cross by commisioning six designers and artists to create six distinctive luggage pieces. They are illustrious photographer Annie Leibovitz, British artist Damien Hirst, head of LV SO, Patrick-Louis Vuitton, Master Chef, Ferran Adria ; Oscar-winning musician Gustavo Santaolalla and of course the Marc Jacobs . Every designer has created a special and practical suitcase according to personal occupation and interest. Annie designed a camera case, backpack and shoulder bag; Damien, a tall black trunk with trays to hold surgical instruments (tools for his artwork); Patrick-Louis a trunk to hold paints and brushes; Ferran a roller bag, Gustavo an instrument case and sweet darling Marc, a trunk made for his two pet dogs complete with pet bowls and a place to store his clothes and a photo of himself so that they wouldn't go LVoesick. The pieces will be auctioned by Sotheby's in London on November 17.

Infiniti Essence with Damier Graphite Luggage

Remember these posts? That was six months ago and finally the Infiniti Essence with the custom built LV Graphite luggage has finally arrived on US shores. Slated to be on view at this coming weekend's Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California, this multimillion-dollar concept car had an exclusive LVook with Edmunds.com's Inside Line in Los Angeles. Special thanks to a special LVoe Reader!!!The Infiniti Essence will be on display at the Louis Vuitton store in Carmel, California, on Tuesday. After the Concours d'Elegance, it will travel to Louis Vuitton stores in major U.S. cities, including Las Vegas, Dallas, New York, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles. Notably, the Essence will not ride in its steel crate during its U.S. tour, and will instead be transported in a climate-controlled truck.

Space Invaders of the Louis Vuitton Kind: Malle Mars Trunk

"One small step for man, one giant leap for leather goods", says the press kit. July 20 marks the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11’s first lunar landing, and to commemorate, Louis Vuitton has created an out of this world “Malle Mars” Trunk designed for a trip to guess where?...Mars! The aerodynamic trunk, which LVooks like a large egg worthy of Spock, opens up to unveil compartments for our necessities in outer space...drawers galore and shelves for our dishes plus a fold-out chair so we could sit back and relax as we take in the views of Mother Earth from the stars.

The trunk, as well as other NASA photographs, space toys, sculptures and astronomy photos, will be on view this Monday, when Louis Vuitton is celebrating the lunar landing’s anniversary with a party at the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History. Vuitton North America president and chief executive officer Daniel Lalonde is playing host with Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and Sally Ride — the history-making astronauts who star in the company’s new core values campaign. For the occasion, Vuitton is donating an undisclosed sum to Al Gore’s Climate Project, and sales of the travel collection at the Fifth Avenue flagship from July 13 to 20 will benefit the organization. I think this is when they would be releasing the Speedy Miroir 35 that I was talking about several days ago.

Louis Vuitton opens in Padua, Italy

One of my patron saints is San Antonio de Padua, so I was happy to learn that a Louis Vuitton Boutique has opened in his famed city. For the ocassion LV has commissioned their artisans to design and manufacture what Italy is known for the world over: SHOES! These Limited Edition Men and Women's footwear are only available at the Paduan Store. The patchwork women's heels are constructed of leather and python illuminated with metallic details of rivets & plates. The understated men's moccasin on the other hand, are made out of calfskin. Both have a signature buckle that I'm not quite sure if it is specific only for this collection of two. It finishes them both quite perfectly! Sigh, I wish it were just a hop, skip and a jump away. Congratulations, Padova for your new Louis Vuitton Boutique, LVoe it!!!

Louis Vuitton Iconic Speedy Exhibit at Selfridges, London

Louis Vuitton just LVoes Selfridges. As part of the store's 100th Anniversary, LV is currently holding an exhibit of its Iconic Speedy. The Speedy Concept Store will feature an insight into the history of the Speedy and the Louis Vuitton brand. Specialist techniques such as hot stamping and Mon Monogram will also be available to customers, who can personalise their purchases. Special Limited Editions Speedy Miroir 35 (previously released only as a 30) are also available at the store. I wish I could go to the exhibit which runs only until June 25, since it will have a cross section of past Speedys released from the Louis Vuitton archives. Louis Vuitton "Muse" Exhibit 5 Canton Road

Entitled "Muse", the current Louis Vuitton exhibit in 5 Canton Road, Tsim Tsa Tsui is a collection of pieces inspired by the House along with specially commisioned artworks. The exhibit highlights the collaborative efforts of the likes of Manolo Blahnik and Vivienne Westwood together with local Hong Kong artists, Tsang Kin Wah and Doris Wong Wai Yin. It opened on May 8 and will run through August 22.

Louis Vuitton /underground/ Store Opens tomorrow

The very first Louis Vuitton store that is situated below ground level(hence the name), opens tomorrow May 30. Located within the flagship of Seibu Department Stores in Ikebukuro, Toshima, Tokyo, this limited "installation" is a concept store outfitted with packing crates to display LV merchandise. Louis Vuitton: A Passion for Creation

Opening tomorrow, May 22,2009 at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, this jointly presented exhibit (Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Louis Vuitton and
the Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Création) comprises of a selection of works from European, American and Chinese artists. "These reflect an energetic urban culture, leading to fictional landscapes located somewhere between dreams and adventure." Artists include: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Paul Chan, Cao Fei, Yang Fudong, Gilbert and George, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Andreas Gursky, Pierre Huyghe, Jeff Koons, Bertrand Lavier, Christian Marclay and Richard Prince. Jeremy Deller for Louis Vuitton

The latest collaboration of an artist with Louis Vuitton is not designing a bag or ready to wear, but commissioning Turner Prize Winning Artist, Jeremy Deller to produce an urban garden for the opening of LV's latest store in the retail island of Westfield, in London’s Shepherds Bush. After which, Deller’s botanical installation will be donated to the Hammersmith Community Gardens Project. LVoe it!!!

Gosh, I feel so old! I'm not familiar with the Twitter thing but apparently Louis Vuitton has joined the ranks of tweeters to share with all of us the happenings in the world of LV. Louis Vuitton Calls Out: FAKE!!!

American Rapper, Rick Ross has been called out by Louis Vuitton for wearing counterfeit sunnies at the XXL Magazine May 2009 Issue. Ay, how embarrassing! The letter from Louis states: Dear Editor:
We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.

The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to correct the confusion.
