Wastebaskets may not seem like the most exciting decorative accent, but practically speaking, they are a necessity. Please resist the temptation to just use the $5 plastic version from Target. There are some much more exotic options out there, and we are thrilled to share them with you!
We fell in love with these adorable painted wastebaskets when we first spotted them on The Peak of Chic last week! How chic are the faux bamboo and Greek key motifs?
This zebra striped wastebasket would be so cute in an office! Be careful what you pair with black and white zebra stripes- anything neon risks looking a little too teenage girl. But pair with a classic parsons desk or the sawhorse desk from W-S Home, a mirrored credenza, and a fun modern lamp, and voila, you have one fab office!

This exotic chinoiserie wastebasket would be so pretty in a den or library. We love the rich colors and gold feet.

This classic rattan basket from Pottery Barn would be great in a guest bedroom or bath. Natural fibers are always in style!
Or if your style is more modern....
Who couldn't love this lacquered orange cube from Jonathan Adler? It just makes us happy. And it's on sale!
Or this sleek blue canister from Kartell? It would work just fine in a modern office!

How fun are these containers that look like crumpled paper bags? And they come in lots of colors too!

This beautiful decoupage wastebasket is has fabulous colors, trim. Who knew a bug could look so cute?!

This mirrored wastebasket with cherry blossoms would be so pretty in a powder room! (the matching tray is also pretty, although we typically don't like sets).

For a traditionalist, you can't go wrong with this pretty bird and bee wastebasket from Marye Kelley. It's so lovely and feminine. My mom would love this.

The scalloped edges and periwinkle floral trellis pattern on this wastebasket make it perfect for a bedroom! It almost looks like polka dots from a distance, but the flowers keep it from looking too juvenile.

This brown metal wastebasket is such a classic style. We love the floral garlands.

Isn't this wooden coral basket so gorgeous! We've mentioned before that the mainstream coral this season stung a little, but we can't help but love this! Are these images from Seba's Cabinet of Natural Curiosities?
We love the soothing color and the pretty handpainted insects and wheat! Gorgeous in a bedroom!

And finally, you can't go wrong with a pretty monogram! One MoS girl has the mailholder in this same pattern from Marye Kelley. This would be so pretty in any room!
