New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 - Monique Lhuillier

Opting for a more subdued palette with injections of spearmint green and burnt orange, Monique Lhuillier showed a collection that really epitomises her label - classic, feminie and simple. A super pretty aray of short hemmed dresses added a perfect amount of flirtiness to the collection with splashes of floral patterned fabrics hinting that spring is well and truly on its way. 50's style cinched waists, ruffles and lace embellishments added to the appeal although I would have loved to have seen a couple of longer alternatives. If short is your thing then you're going to love this collection! Visit www.moniquelhuillier.com for details.

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 - Carolina Herrera

New York Fashion Week is always a colourful affair especially where spring and summer are concerned. American's aren't affraid to use colour and it certainly showed as the spring/summer collections were bursting with vibrant, adventurous but easily wearable shades. I've always loved bright orange and pink as a colour combination and Carolina Herrera opted to have these two hues as the base to her new collection. Amazing! She always manages to make evening wear look so effortless. Her use of details like bows, sashes and crystals makes the pieces look ever so feminine which is why she's always a favourite amongst the a-list for red carpet do's. Island Adventure

The uber-lovely Collette Dinnigan celebrated the launch of her 2010 Resort Collection on Saturday 21st August with a show at Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. The Hamptons High Tea collection was unveiled at the Long Pavillion at luxury resort Qualia during an invitation only event. The collection, channeling silver screen vintage glamour, offered elegantly suggestive shapes with full skirted dresses of silk and pure cottons, ruffled swimsuits and cheeky playsuits. This year Collette is celebrating her 20th year in business so we wish all the lovely people at Collette Dinniagn a very happy 20th birthday!

I spent the weekend just been in Sydney wedding dress shopping with my dear friend Amie who is getting married next year. I'm super excited to be her bridesmaid and it so happens we've fallen madly in love with a couple of Collette Dinnigan dresses that would make amazing bridesmaid dresses. We paid a visit to Collette's Paddington boutique and if you haven't poppped in before I suggest you do. Simply beautiful! The only problem you'll face is narrowing down your favourites. Her pieces are all simply divine! Visit www.collettedinnigan.com.au for boutique and stockist details.

Shoe Review

Shoes are a pretty important part of your wedding day. Unlike your dress, which you will cherish forever even though you'll only wear it once, your shoes are a part of your ensemble that you can wear again (depending on your choice of course!). High street shoe label Nine West have some great heels from their spring 2010 collection which would make fab wedding day shoes that you will want to wear again. If ivory isn't your ideal 'I do' shoe then opt for silver. Everyone needs a pair of silver heels in their wardrobe! Visit www.ninewest.com.au to view their collections online and to find a store near you.

Happy Friday all! x

Real Wedding - Deb James & Michael Matarazzo

On South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula, Deb & Michael married on 29th January 2011 at the picturesque Waverley Estate in the beachside town of Port Elliot. In front of 125 guests they exchanged their vows on a warm, sunny afternoon. There's no denying that the fabulous photography by the very talented Pete Thornton from Event Imaging has perfectly captured the relaxed, happy and love-filled day. The gorgeous bride, in a magical cotton and silk blend Akira gown, was the definition of a glowing, thanks in-part to the makeup artist from Ocea Beauty Bar. There's no denying the love between Deb & Michael shines through in these photographs. We loved the colourful and casual flowers, the brides dress and the polaroid photo's taken by guests for the Bride & Groom as keepsakes. Congratulations Deb & Michael!

Necklace Heaven

It's true, I am in love, in love with Elva Fields. I've blogged before and no doubt I'll blog again. Her pieces... well, I'm lost for words. If jewellery is your thing then one of her beautiful pieces would make a simply perfect accent to your look. I can imagine choosing the gown to go with the necklace rather than choosing the necklace to go with the gown. Each handmade piece features vintage elements wich makes them eco-friendly and super unique. They're truly pieces of art. Many of the pieces are one off and over 40 new pieces have been popped on her website for summer as of today so if you don't want to miss out get in quick. Once they're gone they're gone. Visit shop.elvafields.com for range details.

Fine Designs

On Friday I came across some designs from Australian designer Anna Campbell and I was impressed. The goddess-like pieces are twisted, wrapped, draped, plaited and tied around the figure to create the most gorgeously feminine shapes possible. Anna's Bridal Collection features exquisite and distinctive embellishments including bows, ribbons, hand-made silk flowers and beaded fringing. Her gowns are perfect for the fashionable bride who dreams of a beautiful, romantic dress without restrictive and uncomfortable corsets, hoop skirts and stiff trains which make her designs perfectly suited to garden, outdoor and beach weddings. All Anna Campbell pieces are custom made to measure with brides able to take pieces from different designs to create their dream dress. The Anna Campbell Boutique is now open and is located at 309 Victoria Street, Brunswick in Victoria. For more details on her bridal and bridesmaids collections or to find an alternate stockist visit the website at www.annacampbell.com.au.

The Princess Diaries

It's often said that tiara's are for Princess and unless you are, of course, a Princess you do not wear a tiara. Pfffttt... who says you can't be a Princess for a day? If you opt for this little sparkler I think you'll feel like a Princess long after the wedding. At roughly AUD$328 it's a piece that will be passed down from generation to generation, making it a prized possession and will, no doubt, become sought after amongst the girls in the family. Now... start the search for your Prince! Available to purchase at www.net-a-porter.com.

A Model Marriage

It was a star-studded affair when supermodel Kate Moss married her long-time partner Jamie Hince in a church ceremony Southrop, England over the weekend. In a gown designed for her by her friend John Galliano, Kate looked ever the glowing bride, attended by four bridesdmaids and 15 flowergirls, one of which was her daughter Lila Grace. Jamie opted for a powder blue custom-made Yves Saint Laurent suit that oozed rocker style. The guest list for the celebration was huge with Galliano himself attending, along with Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, Lara Stone with husband David Williams, Carine Roitfeld, Jude Law, Naomi Campbell and Kelly Osborne. Never to shy away from a party Moss reportedly changed into three separate Stella McCartney looks for the reception including a single-breasted white wool suit for her going away outfit. Visit www.vogue.com.au for all the details.
