New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 - Monique Lhuillier

Opting for a more subdued palette with injections of spearmint green and burnt orange, Monique Lhuillier showed a collection that really epitomises her label - classic, feminie and simple. A super pretty aray of short hemmed dresses added a perfect amount of flirtiness to the collection with splashes of floral patterned fabrics hinting that spring is well and truly on its way. 50's style cinched waists, ruffles and lace embellishments added to the appeal although I would have loved to have seen a couple of longer alternatives. New York Fashion Week is always a colourful affair especially where spring and summer are concerned. American's aren't affraid to use colour and it certainly showed as the spring/summer collections were bursting with vibrant, adventurous but easily wearable shades. I've always loved bright orange and pink as a colour combination and Carolina Herrera opted to have these two hues as the base to her new collection. Amazing! She always manages to make evening wear look so effortless. Her use of details like bows, sashes and crystals makes the pieces look ever so feminine which is why she's always a favourite amongst the a-list for red carpet do's. Island Adventure

The uber-lovely Collette Dinnigan celebrated the launch of her 2010 Resort Collection on Saturday 21st August with a show at Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. The Hamptons High Tea collection was unveiled at the Long Pavillion at luxury resort Qualia during an invitation only event. The collection, channeling silver screen vintage glamour, offered elegantly suggestive shapes with full skirted dresses of silk and pure cottons, ruffled swimsuits and cheeky playsuits. This year Collette is celebrating her 20th year in business so we wish all the lovely people at Collette Dinniagn a very happy 20th birthday!

I spent the weekend just been in Sydney wedding dress shopping with my dear friend Amie who is getting married next year. I'm super excited to be her bridesmaid and it so happens we've fallen madly in love with a couple of Collette Dinnigan dresses that would make amazing bridesmaid dresses. Very Valentino - Haute Couture autumn/winter 2010/11 #2

There's no question that Valentino is known for ultra feminine, pretty, show stopping pieces that are always accompanied by the most divine accessories. His recent autumn/winter haute coutre show proved this point very clearly. Delicate layering, sorft ruffled hems, intricate detailing and bold injections of colour all combined to create a beautiful show. The gowns were largely understated in their styling however the use of exquisite silks and organza's showed you don't need to go over the top to have a truly glamorous look. The short red cocktail dress is just gorgeous. I also loved the black gown with organza overlay. A modern take on a typically classic gown. The accessories were my favourite part. Shell encrusted bow kitten heels and short cropped leather gloves with oversized bows added a mod element. I also adored the oversized rosettes on the gowns. Details have never been prettier.

Neutral Remedy - Haute Couture autumn/winter 2010/11

There's something particularly special about the Haute Couture shows. The glamour, the intense detailing, the exquisite fabrics all make for a truly astounding show. The hours that have gone in to creating the collections are off the scale, the cost to put the shows on is equally eye popping.

Armani Prive and Givenchy chose a deliciously neutral palette of caramels, chocolates, nougats and creams. Feathers, sequins and beads amped up the glamour of impecably cut strapless dresses, mono-shoulder gowns and sheer skirts. Armani Prive's signature strapless dress was reinvented with gathers, tucks and draping, making them, no doubt, the choice for many famous ladies leading up to the start of awards season. Givenchy went sheer, mixing futuristic detailing with classic accents of sequins, tassels and cinched waists. Givenchy's pieces were a standout. Beauty doesn't get better than this. Pretty Perry - Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2010

Australia's king of glamour, Alex Perry, wowed the crowd at his highly anticipated Fashion Week show. As expected structured dresses of silks, organzas and tulles were sashayed down the catwalk. Super soft violet's and apricot's were the standout colours. Short hems teamed with billowing tulle trians were well and truly in. New York Bridal Fashion Week 2011

It's the biggest show of the year for American bridal designers so it's no wonder New York Bridal Fashion Week is a super popular event for designers, buyers, stylists and most of all brides. NYBFW really does showcase the best of the best bridal designers with a list of shows that includes the Queen's of bridal Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier & Marchesa. This year my favourite show was a tie between Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier. From looking at these collections it's easy to see why almost every bride on the planet would love to wear one of their gowns. Feminine, modern, intricate and in a simply delicious palette of colours, the collections certainly are divine. I'm in love with the colour of the season - pink. Whether it be a baby shade, dusky or as pastel as can be it's certainly a fresh colour. Reese Witherspoon recently tied the knot in a pale pink custom made Monique Lhuillier gown no doubt helping to kick of the trend. In terms of style the bubble hem seems to be high on designers must-do list with both Oscar de la Renta and Christos both sending some bubbly goodness down the runway. Man Love

I have a thing for nice menswear. A fitted shirt and a well cut, modern suit in a suave shade and beautiful fabric can make all the difference in the man stakes. I've recently become a fan of the label Jack London. The modern label has a great mix of contemporary and hip pieces, as well as classic suits styles in modern cuts and great fabrics.
